Senior Infant Chocolatiers!

Senior Infant School Tour
Senior Infant Chocolatiers!

Both Senior Infant Classes had a wonderful, educational and fun day out at The Chocolate Warehouse. Firstly, we learnt all about the history of chocolate, from Christopher Columbus and the Aztecs to Hernan Cortés bringing the cocoa bean to Europe. We learnt the countries in the world where the cocoa tree grows. We learnt about the small white flower on the cocoa tree, the cocoa pod, the cocoa beans, cocoa butter and the stages of production of the chocolate we eat today. We loved seeing real cocoa pods and cocoa beans!

We then became chocolatiers and watched the tempering machine, the spinning machine and the enrobing machine in action. We used our sense of smell to distinguish flavours that can be added to chocolate. We had great fun decorating our own chocolates with the piping bag and packaged up everything to take home to eat!

Finally, we had a super fun table quiz to see how much of the information we remembered and we all received a certificate from The Chocolate Warehouse! A great day was had by all
