We had a wonderful week celebrating Neurodiversity in St Brigid’s last week.
In our classes, the boys discovered and discussed how Neurodiversity refers to differences in how our brains think and learn which makes us all so unique and special.
We talked about various well-known people who are neurodiverse and how they have brought their unique perspectives and talents to the world. Many people who have ADHD, Autism, Dyspraxia, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia and Tourette Syndrome attribute their successes to their very unique and creative ways of thinking. The boys enjoyed learning about how Daniel Radcliffe, Albert Einstein, Robbie Williams, Greta Thunberg, Billie Eilish and James McClean and others have all used their strengths and talents in such a positive way.
On Wednesday, we all met William the wonderful Service dog. William is a Goldendoodle who was trained by “My Canine Companion” and his owners Linda and Luke. Linda explained the important role that William plays in their family by keeping Luke’s sister safe when they are out and about in the community. He was a very popular visitor and the boys enjoyed hearing all about him and giving him a well-deserved pat on the back!
Well done boys for taking part in Neurodiversity Celebration Week with such enthusiasm.
Our motto in St Brigid’s is Respect Difference, Respect Diversity!🌻
