Building Bridges!

We began our experiment by discussing important features that are necessary when building a bridge. The boys named choice of material, support and balance as the most important aspects to consider. Following this they were broken into working groups, and given limited resources. Each group got 12 sheets of paper, 4 paperclips and 2 stickers. They were given 20 minutes to plan, experiment with their resources and construct their bridge. Many unique and interesting bridges were created, and all withstood the Sellotape test! When a heavier weight was introduced, only 4 bridges, which made use of a clever support system of scrunched up paper balls survived! When the dust settled we spoke about what worked well for our groups and what we would improve about our designs. Keep an eye out for our next construction experiment!
